Synopsis

Organizational Semiotics has shown great potential for the information systems community. In the recent years, a number of workshops and conferences have taken place, which provide researchers and practitioners with an opportunity to discuss their theories, methods and practices from new angles; but literature reporting the research and practical work is rare and in a high demand.

Following the first book entitled "Information, Organisation and Technology: Studies in Organisational Semiotics - 1" (Kluwer Academic Publishers 2001), this book contains selected papers from the 3rd International Workshop on Organisational Semiotics, 4 July 2000 at Stafford, the UK. The chapters report the recent work in the field and demonstrate the significance and added value of the discipline of Organisational Semiotics to information systems, organisational analysis and modelling. In particular, it provides a framework that accommodates both the technical and social aspects of information systems.
